Caroline Russell-King is a theatre critic and has spent 40 years in the arena as a professional theatre artist.

As a critic she sees and reviews about 70 plays a year in Calgary and surrounding communities. She also adjudicates in Canada, the USA and internationally. Published by The Scene, The YYScene she has also been guest critic at The Calgary Herald. She pioneered the Postcard Review and Postcard Profiles as well as writing traditional interviews and articles. She has served on juries for the Betty Mitchel Theatre Awards ,is the co-chair of The Calgary Theatre Critics’ Awards and a member of the International Association of Theatre Critics.

As a professional theatre artist Caroline is an award-winning playwright who has written 33 plays and had 62 productions across Canada and the USA. She is a member and past vice president of the PGC (Playwrights Guild of Canada). Her play, Selma Burke - Carving a Sculptor's Life (with Maria Crooks), was a finalist for the Sharon Pollock Playwriting Competition. Selma Burke premiered Theatre Calgary in partnership with Alberta Theatre Projects and went on to win the National Playwrighting Competition, The Calgary Theatre Critics’ Award for Outstanding Playscript and The Betty Mitchell Theatre Award for Best New Play. Her play, High and Splendid Braveries won the Writers Guild of Alberta Gwen Pharis Ringwood award for drama. The same year her play Absinthe, Bourbon Vodka and Sake had it’s third production by Bema Productions in Victoria BC. She is published in five anthologies and her trilogy of plays Palliser Suite is published by Frontenac House Press. Palliser Suite was also a finalist of the Stephen Leacock Award for Humour. Caroline represents Canada as co- ambassador for the Dramatist Guild of America. She also
co-wrote Strategies - The Business of being a Playwright in Canada (with Rose Scollard) published by the Playwrights Guild of Canada.

Working as a professional dramaturg, she is the CEO and founder of Dramaturgy on Demand. Caroline is a member of
